At the Clock Tower Dental Clinic and Implant Centre prevention is the philosophy at the heart of the clinic strategy-it is possible to keep the teeth and gums in such a way as to never need interventional dental treatment. We offer a full range of preventative dental techniques

The Clock Tower Dental Clinic and Implant Centre offers homeopathic dental treatment. The uses of homeopathy in dentistry are many-fold. It is essential that the remedies used are provided by a qualified practitioner and that the remedies themselves are supplied by a bespoke manufacturer. Homeopathic treatments in dentistry can help with fear, anxiety, surgical healing, pain, bruising and swelling.

There are also homeopathic dental remedies to help with periodontitis, teething babies, oral infection, and many other common oral conditions.

After a consultation and detailed discussion involving many aspects of the individual case history, remedies can be prescribed to treat the symptoms. Remedies are as equally effective in the old as the young and have no side effects.

Remedies are also used during mercury removal, along with other measures, to decrease the toxicity of mercury amalgam.

At the Clock Tower Dental Clinic and Implant Centre we offer Mercury-free dentistry. The safety of the mercury contained within dental amalgam has been debated for many years. Although no scientific evidence has yet conclusively proved the risk to health, it would seem sensible not to place a known poison into the mouth and leave it there for twenty years.

There are now many alternatives to the use of dental amalgam which are cosmetically superior and can be equally durable. At the Clock Tower Dental Clinic existing amalgam is removed carefully under rubber dam isolation and copious water irrigation. High-bore suction dramatically cuts down the emission of mercury vapour.

Dental implant treatment has revolutionised cosmetic dentistry. Implants are often referred to as the "Third set" of teeth after the first two have been lost; baby teeth, adult teeth, implant-supported teeth.

Put simply, the magic of a titanium dental implant is that when it is inserted into the bone, in over 98% of cases, the bone grows directly around the implant to create a new tooth root. Crowns, bridges, or dentures can then be permanently secured to the implant to eliminate the need for removable dentures.

Mini dental implants can be used to stabilise dentures where looseness is a problem. They are a more recent development and do not require surgery-they are placed through the gum quickly and painlessly under local anaesthetic.

The mini implant is effective, successful, and very economical when compared to regular implants to stabilise dentures. Then results can be dramatic- it is not uncommon at all to hear patients comment that the implants have "changed my life". The surgery time to place mini implants is around 30 minutes and the denture is fitted back to them on the same day.

Many smiles can be changed in a very short period of time using whitening, resin bonding, veneers or crowns. Sometimes a multi speciality approach is necessary to achieve the perfect dental appearance desired.

A brand new smile will often result in a feeling of confidence for the wearer and can give the appearance of being younger and healthier. The benefits reach much further than simply having beautiful teeth.

Pain-free treatment The Clock Tower Dental Clinic and Implant Centre uses the Compudent(tm) or Wand system to deliver local anaesthetic. Milestone Scientifics' computer controlled local anaesthetic delivery systems, which features the Wand(r), a lightweight hand piece that looks like a pen, and eliminates the pain you get from an injection.

The CompuDent(tm) system features state-of-the-art technology that makes painful injections a thing of the past. This revolutionary system, consisting of two main elements, the CompuDent(tm) computer and the Wand hand piece, features a pain-free approach to delivering local anaesthetic.

Topical anaesthetic is first applied to freeze the gum and then a tiny needle is gently introduced through the already-numb tissue to anaesthetize the surrounding area. The controlled flow also eliminates the "bee sting" effect, which is descriptive of the pain associated with a surge of fluids into tissue.
