A New Year, A New You?

With help from our Epsom cosmetic dental team, you can have a new and improved smile in 2020!

smiling older coupleChristmas and the New Year celebrations are over for yet another year and most of us will now be starting to get back to ‘normal’, whatever that may be for you.

Some of us will have made some very definite new year resolutions, whilst others may simply have a very loose idea of things that they want to change in 2020.

One of the most common areas for new year targets is self improvement. This can be educational, perhaps taking an evening class,  getting fitter by joining a gym or cutting out unhealthy foods, or improving our appearance. It is in this latter area that the Clock Tower Dental Clinic team can help.

Life takes its toll

For many of us, our daily lives present challenges, whether this be at work or bringing up a family. Both of these take both time and energy from our lives, often leaving us with very little time to dedicate to ourselves. Hastily grabbed meals, a lack of exercise and too little time for shopping and beauty treatments can sometimes leave us looking a little older than we really are.

There comes a point when some of us will look in the mirror and not be entirely happy with what they see. A new year presents an opportunity to take charge of this and do something about it. Eating healthily and making sure that we take more exercise, even if only walking to the shop instead of driving, is a good start. When it comes to improving how we look though, professional help is at hand.

Age reducing treatments

Whilst our Epsom dentists can’t actually make you any younger than you are, there are a number of treatments at our disposal which can help to make you look and feel younger. Some of these require invasive treatments whilst others do not. We always recommend a full consultation between dentist and patient so that we can find the best way forward depending on your needs and budget (payment plans are available).

The following are some of the treatments that can be used to help give you a younger looking appearance.

Dental implants – Little makes you look older than having missing teeth that leave visible gaps. Whilst this can be corrected with dentures, the use of dental implants is becoming more popular than ever. These offer the most realistic and robust option for replacing a missing tooth or teeth.

Orthodontics – A nice smile that reveals a white set of teeth (we’ll come to that shortly) will help to make you look younger. If your teeth are crooked though, you may be reluctant to smile. Orthodontic treatment can correct this and, by using a discrete system such as the Clear Aligner orthodontic system, you can largely avoid your braces being visible during the treatment period.

Teeth whitening and veneers – Our teeth darken with age and there is little that we can do to prevent this. This and any additional staining can leave our teeth dull and older looking. A teeth whitening procedure is an excellent option to restore the whiteness of these teeth, with porcelain veneers being an alternative for teeth that are heavily discoloured or affected by chips or cracks of the enamel.

Anti wrinkle treatments

It is important that our teeth are both healthy and attractive looking, but the positive effects of a fantastic white smile are easily reduced if your skin looks old and wrinkly. Improving our diet and staying well hydrated can help with the condition of our skin but it won’t get rid of the wrinkles that add to our years. At the Clock Tower Dental Clinic, we have a fully qualified and experienced team that can help you with this. By using facial aesthetic treatments such as wrinkle reduction procedures  and dermal fillers, we can help to reduce those wrinkles and ‘plump up’ sagging cheeks and thinning lips amongst other enhancements.

This might seem quite a long list but most people won’t need to have all of these, with many perhaps, only needing one of the above mentioned treatments in order to achieve a younger looking appearance.

Naturally, good oral health is more important than the appearance of your teeth but there is no reason why you can’t have both. Our Epsom dental team can advise you of the best way to achieve this during your consultation with them.

If you are hoping to not only have healthy teeth but a much improved smile in 2020, we are here to help you achieve this. All you have to do to get things rolling is to call the Clock Tower Dental Clinic on 01372 720136 to arrange your initial consultation. We look forward to seeing you!
