One common dental issue which cannot be resolved quickly is crooked teeth. Even fast acting orthodontics, designed to correct minor misalignment, can take a minimum of six weeks to achieve their aims. Amongst the range of orthodontic treatments at our Epsom practice, we are pleased to offer Clear Aligner. This system uses a completely different method to traditional braces, where wires and brackets are used, and can make the teeth straightening experience much less stressful for the patient.

Clear Aligner

Unlike most orthodontic systems, the Clear Aligner abandons the use of wires and brackets altogether. Replacing these is a series of transparent medical grade plastic trays that fit directly over the teeth. These are custom made for each patient from 3D scans that are taken of the teeth. Each tray is worn for a short while before being replaced by the next in the series. With each tray easing the teeth gently towards their correct position, this is one of the most comfortable methods available for straightening teeth.

The benefits to these almost invisible orthodontics does not end there though. In addition to the fact that these trays are barely noticeable whilst being worn, they can be removed easily by the patient. It should be noted that, whilst they are designed for this purpose, you should only remove them for eating meals and when cleaning your teeth. Excessive removal may lengthen the treatment process time.

Hygiene

One of the benefits of removable braces is that you are free to eat any food that you wish without fear of it becoming trapped in the braces. This certainly makes social occasions less stressful and allows you to eat a full range of foods. The removal of the trays also means that you can keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy with little difficulty. Food particles become easily trapped in braces with wires and decay is likely unless you are very thorough. With the Clear Aligner, you simply remove them, brush and floss your teeth as normal, give the trays a clean and then return them to the mouth.

Naturally, we will monitor your teeth for the duration of the treatment and make any adjustments and recommendations that are necessary.
