Dr Ravdeep Dahmi – Aesthetic Dental Care

Key roles within our Epsom dental team.

Dentist Dr Ravdeep DhamiWe thought that it would be interesting to take a look, from time to time, at the roles that some of our dental team play and the procedures that they are qualified to perform. Although many dentists are qualified to carry out a wide range of treatments, many tend to focus on particular areas of interest. In Dr Ravdeep Dahmi’s case, this is the area of aesthetic dentistry.

Aesthetic dentistry is very similar to ‘cosmetic dentistry’ in many ways and can involve a number of different treatments to help patients to improve their smile. This is not always done purely for ‘beauty’ purposes though and can also involve restoring damaged teeth in a natural looking way; for example, the use of white fillings instead of the darker coloured amalgam ones that are often used.

With a masters degree in aesthetic dentistry from King’s College London Dental Institute ( https://www.kcl.ac.uk/dentistry ) let us take a look at some of the treatments that Ravdeep offers for patients of the Clock Tower Dental Clinic here in Epsom.

Minimally invasive dental veneers

Each case is individual, but in some cases, it may be possible to apply dental veneers to a patient’s teeth without an invasive procedure. This isn’t always appropriate though and it takes a skilled practitioner like Ravdeep to know if this is the right approach for that particular patient. In the majority of cases, it will be necessary to prepare the tooth for a veneer by shaving away a fine layer from the surface. Through his skills in this area, Ravdeep will make sure that as little of the natural tooth is removed as possible in order to attain the desired result.

Broken and decayed tooth restoration

Broken and decayed teeth are perhaps the most common problems that all dentists encounter, including here at our Epsom based clinic. There are many ways that these can be restored depending on the location and extent of the damage. In the UK, amalgam fillings are widely used and whilst these do offer a good level of strength, the material is very dark and shows up when the teeth are revealed when smiling or laughing for example.

Without losing the strength that amalgam provides, Ravdeep looks to other methods that not only restore the tooth’s strength and integrity, but also leaves it looking as natural as possible. Where a small amount of decay is found, it is likely that this can simply be filled using a white filling material that is made up to match the colour of the rest of the tooth. This leaves the filling almost ‘invisible’ to the naked eye.

Where more significant damage has occurred, a dental crown might be used. Again, this will be produced to match the existing tooth colour making it look as natural as possible.

As a registered provider of both the Invisible Clear Aligner and 6 Month Smiles brace systems, we are fortunate indeed to have Ravdeep as a valued member of our team. Because orthodontic treatment can take quite an extended period of time to achieve the desired result, it is important to make the right choices early on. Not all orthodontics are suitable for all situations and with Ravdeep, you can be sure that he will take good care, in discussion with you, to make sure that you receive the most appropriate treatment for your needs.

Facial aesthetics

As part of his aesthetic training, Ravdeep also provides wrinkle reduction treatments for patients who wish to take their smile makeover one step further. Easing wrinkled skin to generate a younger and healthier looking complexion has helped many of our patients to feel happier about the way that they look.

If all of the above wasn’t enough, Ravdeep also has a reputation for being great with nervous dental patients, helping them to receive the treatment they need with much reduced levels of stress. In many cases this has helped patients to receive ongoing care, rather than avoiding appointments because of dental anxiety.

If you would like to make an appointment with Ravdeep or one of our other dentists about any of the treatments above, or indeed for any general dental problem, please make an appointment at The Clock Tower Dental Clinic by calling us today on 01372 720136
