Whiter Teeth The Easy Way

Whiter Teeth The Easy Way

Creating a great looking smile with a fast acting teeth whitening procedure.

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular and widely used procedures in the field of cosmetic dentistry. There are many reasons for this including the speed, affordability and the non invasive aspect of this treatment. Above all though, a teeth whitening procedure can be one of the most effective ways to really improve your smile.

We have performed this procedure for many people from the Epsom area, most of whom initially came to us believing that their discoloured teeth were something they would simply have to live with. However, following a consultation and treatment, they have been delighted with the near-instant results; often improving the whiteness of their teeth up to eight times.

So, how do we achieve whiter teeth for our patients?

In house treatment

Teeth whitening can be done either in our Epsom dental practice, or at home. The benefit of ‘in house’ teeth whitening is that your teeth are whitened quickly, typically within one hour. Home whitening kits are also available and are very effective – but do take longer to work.

At the Clock Tower Dental Clinic, we use the revolutionary teeth whitening method called ‘Zoom 2’ which is simple, straightforward and involves no invasive work.

Before the procedure commences, the patient’s lips and gums are protected to stop them from coming into contact with the whitening ingredient to prevent burning. A whitening gel is then applied to the teeth and this is activated using a special light. Within approximately one hour, the gel will have done its work and is removed, leaving the patient with significantly whiter teeth.

At home whitening kits

Some patients do prefer to whiten their teeth at home. This can be done using customised tray kits which are made to the exact shape of your teeth and mouth and into which the whitening gel is placed. This is a major advantage over shop bought kits, where the the gel can leak onto the lips and gums, potentially causing burns. The trays are worn for a few hours each day with the results being seen within a couple of weeks or so.

Post treatment care

Teeth whitening treatments will leave your teeth looking brighter for many months, but they will, eventually, start to darken again. Whilst some patients use a teeth whitening procedure as a ‘one off’ such as for a wedding for example, others prefer to keep the whiteness maintained and there are no problems for anyone who wishes to keep topping up the whiteness over the years. Side effects are very rare but some patients may experience a little extra sensitivity from their teeth for a day or so afterwards. This will go, but, in the meantime, avoiding very hot or cold food and drink is recommended.
