Cosmetic Dentistry For Nervous Patients In Epsom

Which treatments are the least invasive and what results might you expect?
It is fair to say that the opportunities to have an attractive smile have greatly advanced in the last twenty years or so. With these advances in modern dentistry, we can now not only replace a tooth or restore it, but do so in a way that actually enhances a patient’s smile.
Not all of these treatments require invasive dental work, but quite a few of them do and while most patients are probably prepared to undergo a short invasive procedure in order to have a near perfect smile, this may not be true for everyone.
If you are a nervous patient, and many people are, you may think that you have missed out on the opportunity to have a smile makeover? While it is true that you might find a dental implant procedure challenging, there are still treatments available at the Clocktower Dental, Implant & Facial Centre that will enable you to improve your smile without the need to undergo any significant treatment, and in many cases, no need for a local anaesthetic either.
Let us take a look then at how we can help our more anxious Epsom dental patients have an attractive smile without raising their stress level.
Scale and polish
This is something all of our patients should be having on a regular basis. It is essential to help keep your gums in good health and free from periodontal disease. A byproduct of this treatment though is that the cleaning carried out by the dental hygienist removes quite a lot of staining from the surface of the teeth. It won’t whiten your teeth as much as a teeth whitening procedure but you will notice a difference; and have healthier gums as well.
Teeth whitening
This is probably the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment that there is. There are two two versions of the Zoom teeth whitening that we provide at our dentist in Epsom. The first is done within the practice where a whitening gel is applied to your teeth and then activated by a special light. The gel is then left to work for around an hour before being removed and revealing whiter teeth. If you don’t like the idea of being in a dental practice for that long, we also provide high quality custom home whitening kits where you can comfortably whiten your teeth at home. Both produce excellent results and we are always happy to discuss which would be the most suitable for you.
Cosmetic bonding
Cosmetic bonding consists of applying a bonding material, made from resin and glasslike particles to the teeth. In most cases no invasive treatment will be necessary. This is a patient friendly treatment that can be used to address a number of problems. These include repairing chipped or cracked teeth that don’t require a filling; they can be used to build up shorter teeth and to reshape others. They can also be used for minor cosmetic orthodontic correction such as to close a gap between the top two front teeth which some people suffer from. Finally, they can be used to ‘coat’ your teeth surface, acting as a type of non-invasive dental veneer. This is a great way to give your smile a real boost without undergoing more complex dental surgery.
Orthodontics
On most occasions, we don’t have to extract any teeth in order to provide orthodontic treatment. This is good news for nervous patients as it means that they can have straight and even teeth without real concern. It may be though, that you still think that teeth braces look uncomfortable? If so, you may well be thinking of the traditional and well-known ‘train track’ style braces, but don’t worry as we have good news for you! Some modern orthodontics use clear aligners that come in the form of plastic transparent ‘trays’ that fit over your teeth. You are provided with a series of these, with each worn for a short while before you remove them and place the next tray. This continues until you have nice, even teeth again.
The trays are made from scans and impressions that we take of your teeth which provides better comfort whilst wearing. They can also be removed for eating meals and cleaning your teeth, making them very convenient too.
As you can see then, even the most nervous patient has options for improving their smile with the range of treatments that we have available at the Clocktower Dental, Implant & Facial Centre. We also pride ourselves on looking after nervous patients and offer additional support that we feel will help you have any other essential treatment that you might need.
