Muscle Relaxant for Teeth Grinding (Bruxism) & Clenching:

Effects of Bruxism: Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding and is commonly accompanied by clenching of the jaw. It not only causes tooth wear, fractured teeth and fillings but also face, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, jaw pain and TMJ problems.

Injecting small doses of prescription muscle relaxant directly into the masseter muscle, weakens the muscle and helps to stop the habitual grinding of teeth and clenching of the jaw.

How quickly does it work?
Full effect will be achieved in 14 days, but many patients start to feel the effects about 2-4 days after treatment.

How long do the effects last?
Typically, the effects of muscle relaxant last for 3-4 months but with masseter the results often last for around 6 months. Some patients find that the treatment helps them to break the cycle, so the habit stops even after the toxin has worn off.

Are there any side effects?
Occasionally localised bruising can occur at the injection site. Infection at the injection site can also occur but this is rare as aseptic techniques are used.

Is there any downtime?
There is no swelling or downtime.

Jaw slimming

Also known as masseter injections, jaw slimming or facial slimming using muscle-relaxing injections is a minimally invasive procedure to produce a more feminine shape to the lower face. The square-jawed look ,which is highly desirable for men, is usually the result of overly-developed masseter muscles. Injecting a small amount of muscle relaxant into the masseter muscle to create a slimmer and more contoured jawline. There is minimum discomfort involved.

The jawline slimming treatment can transform your face completely. From having a square and masculine jaw, to a narrow and oval face in a matter of weeks.

Depending on the treatment recommended, Results can be seen within three weeks and typically last for three to four months. Repeat treatment maybe needed 4-8 weeks later to ensure the best results, with a follow up six months after that.

The results generally improve significantly over the first year of treatment. As the muscles relax and atrophy over time, less muscle relaxant will be needed and longer periods between treatments.
